Is Long Distance Dating Good Or Bad

Though long distance relationships have been around since the dawn of time, they are certainly becoming more frequent. With the introduction of online dating, the number of long distance relationships has more than tripled.

The reason is because communication is so easy with someone from across the world. It does not cost a penny to sit and chat with them for hours. Cell phone plans allow so many free minutes and after a certain hour, you can talk for free.

The only thing that has remained the same is the physical appearance in the relationship and is still no easier today than it was twenty years ago.

When considering a long distance dating relationship here are some things to think about when making your decision.

Do you know them or not?

Most people contest that the online chatting for hours or phone conversations help them learn the core of a person much better than traditional dating.

Is this true?

Well it certainly could be, because spending hours talking on the phone or computer is one way of learning a great deal about a person.

Most people talk about their life, goals, childhood and other conversational issues that help their partner truly learn what they are like. But, there are many that claim that talking on the phone or computer in a dating relationship is not the only way by which you need to know your partner.

Talking to someone and exploring their thought process and feelings is one way of getting to know someone, but what about their actions in public, how they eat and do they leave the toilet seat up? These are all things to consider, because they are leading causes of fights in serious dating relationships and marriages.

Intimacy: is phone sex the same?

Just about everyone would agree that one of the leading downfalls of a long distance dating relationship is the lack of intimacy. While some may be perfectly content with phone sex or other alternative intimacy methods, most people want physical intimacy.

Intimacy does not necessarily mean the sexual act, but what about holding hands, kissing or snuggling?

That is a big part of a relationship and it can really put a strain on things when it is few and far between. So, when you commit to a long distance relationship remember that this will be something that you will have to face. Make sure that it is something that you understand and can deal with before committing.

Respect, trust and honesty

One of the leading dating tips for long distance relationships is respect, trust and honesty. These are all issues that must be taken even more seriously since there is greater distance between the two of you.

If you are feeling insecure about your partners whereabouts, if you live in the same town you drive right over and check it out. When you live hundreds or thousands of miles away this is not possible or not without a ton of money! So it is important that a very strong bond of trust and respect is established at a very early stage in the relationship.

Always back your information up with honesty by telling the truth. Though your partner lives a way off does not mean that they cannot find out something about you. You would be very surprised at how small this old world is!

Though it is a long distance relationship, your partner still deserves the same respect as if they lived in the same city. Remember their birthdays and other important dates, do not assume that because you live far apart that it excuses you from respecting them, it does not!

Preparing for Your Long Distance Move

Your long distance moving company will take care of much of the work involved in your relocation to a different city or town.  You will not need to worry about the loading or hauling or your personal belongings.  However, there are some preparations you can make to save the movers’ time and save your money.

1.  Disconnect appliances.  You can prepare your appliances for long distance moving by disconnecting them from power and water.  If your long distance moving company has to do this service, they may charge you an extra fee.  It is easy to do, and will not take you much time.

2.  Take down ceiling fans or fixtures you are going to take.  Many people have ceiling fans or antique light fixtures that they take with them during long distance moving.  If you want to bring these items along, you will save yourself money by taking them down before the moving truck arrives.  If the movers are faced with the task, they will contract with an electrician rather than taking the fixtures down themselves.  This can run into a lot of money.

3.  Get expensive clocks ready for the long distance moving.  Grandfather clocks especially need to be taken apart and packed carefully to avoid damage.  You will want to have this done well in advance of the move.  Clock professionals can both get grandfather clocks ready for long distance moving and put them back together when they arrive.

4.  Have your antiques appraised.  Before you call the long distance moving company, be sure that you know the value of the antiques you own.  A good appraiser will give a detailed description of the item, along with any damage or “character marks” that show its age.  This is an official valuation that can be used for insurance purposes if damage is done to your antiques during long distance moving.

5.  Consider mailing your books by book rates.  Sometimes, long distance moving rates can be lowered if you eliminate the hundreds of pounds of books you might have.  Book rates are much cheaper than other mail rates.  You might find that you can save money by mailing the books rather than having the long distance moving company haul them to your new location.

You might have to do some of the work and coordination of services to get the long distance moving experience you want.  Taking the time to tend to a few small tasks can save you money on the move.  Having some items professionally prepared, packed, or appraised can help you make sure that they arrive in good condition.  Long distance moving is a job, but a good move is well worth the time you spend.

What are Long Distance Moving Companies?

In a country where people move from one coast to another at the drop of a hat, long distance moving companies are important.  There are many things that make these companies stand out.  If you are planning a move, it is good to find out what long distance moving companies are and what they do.

The most obvious answer to the question is that long distance moving companies travel long distances.  The next question is how long the distance should be to qualify the mover as a long distance moving company.  Some say 50 miles from the original residence or business.  Others say the belongings must be moved over 100 miles for the move to be considered a long distance move.  This really depends on the definition of the long distance moving companies you hire.

Another consideration is whether long distance moving companies move your belongings over state lines.  In this case, the move might even be less than other long distance moves.  The reason it is considered a long distance move is that different laws must be followed while the long distance moving companies are operating in another state.  This changes the way they have to do business.

Long distance moving companies are services for hauling your belongings from one location to another.  Usually this means that you are moving from a home in one city to another home somewhere else.  Long distance moving companies also move some businesses to their new locations.

Long distance moving companies may do other jobs, too.  They may pack your items carefully before loading them onto the truck.  Often, you will do the bulk of the unpacking at the other end because only you can decide where you want to put your belongings in your new residence.

There is also the matter of storage.  Long distance moving companies will sometimes take care of your storage needs.  They often have their own facilities for this purpose.  They do the work of taking the goods off the truck and putting them into a storage unit until you are ready.  Then, when the time comes, long distance moving companies will load them back on the truck and bring them to your new house.

When you know what long distance moving companies are, you can decide if they are what you need for your next relocation.

Long Distance Bus Travel – 6 Practical Tips for the Backpacker

Travel by bus can be one of the most economical and convenient ways to travel. If you are lucky you can see some beautiful scenery and meet interesting people. Following the below tips will help you have a nice bus trip:

1. A good way to save a night accommodations is to take a long distance train or bus during the night. Use earplugs and eye shades if you plan on getting any sleep.

2. Wait for a cute guy/girl to show up to check in at the airport or to buy the bus ticket and the stand in line behind that person. If you are lucky you will get the seat next to them :) But realistically we will gladly settle for someone who does not smell, has their body fat pouring into our seat or drools while sleeping…

3. Find out which side of the bus the sun will be and try to get a seat on the opposite side. The worst seats are:

* In the front:

- you can see how terrible the driving is

- the driver may be allowed to smoke even on a non smoking bus

- the seats may have less leg room

* Next to the toilets (usually in the back)

* The last row (may not recline fully)

4. Even though the bus company may claim that there is air conditioning and heating these often turn out to be broken in some countries, prepare for the worst.

5. Bring along a sweater even if it is warm outside, the air con can make things very cold.

6. When traveling by bus you enter cities which sometimes do not have a clear city sign. If you want to know where you are you can try to find out by looking at the bottom of the signs for various shops, they sometimes have the city name written there.

Long Distance Moving Guide

We all know how stressful moving house can be, though when you consider the main reasons why people need to move long distance you realize that there can be additional worries too.

You may be moving long distance because you’re starting a new job, or perhaps there’s been a death in the family, or maybe you’re getting divorced and are moving away to start a fresh new life.

Whatever the reason, we’re here to help make your move as smooth as it can be, and hope our Guide to Moving Long Distance will be very useful for you!

Generally, if you’re moving long distance you’ll know about it some months in advance. It’s tempting to think that your move is months away so you don’t need to do anything about it just yet, but that’s a fatal mistake to make. The best thing you can do is make the most of the time you have and plan everything well in advance; You have to be prepared day by day before the move to avoid panicking on the day of the move!

Try to be as organized as possible.

Why not start a “moving file” which you can use to keep all your paperwork on your impending move in? Each time you get a new piece of information, add it to your file so that you know exactly where it is should you need to get hold of it quickly.

Know everything there is to know about your new place.

You may already know a little about the place you’re moving to, but there are many things that you probably take for granted with your current city, such as where the shopping mall is, where your nearest fitness center is, the library, entertainment, restaurants etc etc. Research as much as possible about your new city so that you don’t feel completely lost when you get there!

The Chamber of Commerce often has a new resident’s welcome pack which they can send you and this should prove to be an excellent source of information. It’s important that they have their contact details on the Internet.

Moving long distance is a great opportunity to throw out things you don’t need anymore!

By preparing well in advance you’ll have time to properly sort through all of your belongings and to think about what you would like to keep and what you no longer need.

Consider the idea that your belongings will be weighed by your moving company. Now think about how silly it would be to lug a load of unused items to your new house and have to pay extra to do so, only to put them in the back of the closet for the next five years until you move house again! Sounds stupid, doesn’t it?!

Separate the things that you can give from the ones that you can sell. Then make an inventory of everything you’re keeping; this is very useful for two reasons: one, you will have a list of all your belonging and can use that list to figure out what goes where in your new house and two, this list is very useful to give to your insurance company should you ever need to make a claim.
